Meet Manny, the owner of Doghouse!
What made you start Doghouse?
We purchased the business because of its unique concept, and our love for dogs.
I had been running a pet business on the side for some period of time, and I was constantly asked if we had our own store. So when the opportunity came to take over Doghouse, we immediately took it.
Plus being in the hospitality industry for many years, I had good knowledge on how to run a business, which came in handy.
What has been your biggest achievement to date?
My biggest achievement to date since purchasing the business is making Doghouse grow into what it is today. I love coming into work because everybody who walks through our door always has such a great time and so much fun.
Both dogs and humans have such an enjoyable experience, which is something I am very proud of.
What is your favourite aspect of your job?
My favourite part of the job is obviously interacting with all of the dogs that come through the door. Watching them enjoying their treats and playing with other dogs makes me really happy.
What do you think it means to be a pet owner?
Being a pet owner means a lot to me. It’s an absolute honour.
Dogs are such amazing, smart, talented creatures that have a heart of gold and that is why we need to treat them with respect and give them the best life we possibly can.
Where do you see Doghouse in five years?
I see the business expanding by opening up another store, before eventually expanding and opening up businesses interstate.
We have a lot of people wanting to franchise the business.
But we need to get things right and create a model for us that works and is successful, before doing so. This is something we are currently working on doing and something I would definitely like to implement in the future.
Do you have any pets?
I have an eight-year-old German Shepherd named Luna and she is the queen of our household. She is the reason why we started our side business five years ago.
We love her to pieces and she has had such an amazing impact on our lives! I couldn’t imagine my life without her.
